Chequered past

Chart within the science where the method lies
City brooding south of Union Square
Duly noted disrepair
Disregard the keepsakes and souvenirs
Oh the mind's real estate

Lone soul roaming through this mad city
Thoughts growing like leaves in a quest for sunlight
Finding holes in these old walls
The streets are singing in verses, trying to reclaim their words
While the ground opened up, threatens to erupt of anger
I still have faith permeating through the sounds I make
They carry me to other places
Different streets with the same silence
Not a shadow in sight
Fast forward to summer the floors are shaking
Under the weight of this euphoric uproar
Bumping elbows knocking glasses off the table
The tone has changed now
Avoiding quick sands
Sheltering under sunbeams
I reminisce and ponder
About the other ways I could have ruined things
And about all lives, sourly lived through
I split in two and strive to bring back the fun from the beginning
No fear whatsoever
Thoughts growing free now making the best, the worst
And the worst, the best
